26 : jah swa allai Israel ganisand, swaswe gameliþ ist: urrinniþ us Sion sa lausjands du afwandjan afgudein af Iakoba.
And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
27 : jah so im fram mis triggwa, þan afnima frawaurhtins ize.
For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.
28 : aþþan bi aiwaggeljon fijandans in izwara, iþ bi gawaleinai liubai ana attans.
As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers' sakes.
29 : inu idreiga sind auk gibos jah laþons gudis.
For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
30 : swaswe raihtis jus suman ni galaubideduþ guda, iþ nu gaarmaidai waurþuþ þizai ize ungalaubeinai,
For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief:
31 : swa jah þai nu ni galaubidedun izwarai armaion, ei jah eis gaarmaindau.
Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.
32 : galauk auk guþ allans in ungalaubeinai, ei allans gaarmai.
For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.
33 : o diupiþa gabeins handugeins jah witubnjis gudis! ƕaiwa unusspilloda sind stauos is jah unbilaistidai wigos is!
O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!
34 : ƕas auk ufkunþa fraþi fraujins aiþþau ƕas imma ragineis was?
For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor?
35 : aiþþau ƕas imma fruma gaf, jah fragildaidau imma?
Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again?
36 : unte us imma jah þairh ina jah in imma alla; immuh wulþus du aiwam, amen.
For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.

1 : Bidja nu izwis, broþrjus, þairh bleiþein gudis, usgiban leika izwara saud qiwana, weihana, waila galeikaidana guda, andaþahtana blotinassu izwarana.
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 : ni galeikoþ izwis þamma aiwa, ak inmaidjaiþ ananiujiþai fraþjis izwaris du gakiusan ƕa sijai wilja gudis, þatei goþ jah galeikaiþ jah ustauhan.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
3 : qiþa auk þairh anst gudis sei gibana ist mis, allaim wisandam in izwis, ni mais fraþjan þau skuli fraþjan, ak fraþjan du waila fraþjan, ƕarjammeh swaswe guþ gadailida mitaþ galaubeinais.
For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
4 : swaswe raihtis in ainamma leika liþuns managans habam, þaiþ~þan liþjus allai ni þata samo taui haband;
For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:
5 : swa managai ain leik sijum in Xristau, aþþan ainƕarjizuh anþar anþaris liþjus
So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.
8 : sa dailjands in allawerein, sa faurastandands in usdaudein, sa armands in hlasein.
Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.
9 : friaþwa unliuta; fiandans u, haftjandans godamma;
Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.
10 : broþralubon in izwis misso friaþwamildjai; sweriþai izwis misso faurarahnjandans;
Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;
11 : usdaudein ni latai; ahmin wulandans; fraujin skalkinondans;
Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;
12 : wenai faginondans; aglons usþulandans; bidai haftjandans;
Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;
13 : andawiznim weihaize gamainjandans; gastigodein galaistjandans;
Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.
14 : þiuþjaiþ þans wrikandans izwis: þiuþjaiþ jah ni unþiuþjaiþ;
Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.
15 : faginon miþ faginondam, gretan miþ gretandam.
Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.
16 : þata samo in izwis misso fraþjandans; ni hauhaba hugjandans, ak þaim hnaiwam miþgawisandans; ni wairþaiþ inahai bi izwis silbam.
Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.
17 : ni ainummehun ubil und ubilamma usgibandans; bisaiƕandans godis ni þatainei in andwairþja gudis, ak jah in andwairþja manne allaize. in andwairþja gudis, ak jah in andwairþja manne allaize.
Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
18 : jabai magi wairþan us izwis, miþ allaim mannam gawairþi habandans.
If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
19 : ni izwis silbans gawrikandans, liubans, ak gibiþ staþ þwairhein; gameliþ ist auk: mis fraweit leitaidau, ik fragilda, qiþiþ frauja.
Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
20 : jabai gredo fijand þeinana, mat gif imma; iþ jabai þaursjai, dragkei ina; þata auk taujands haurja funins rikis ana haubiþ is.
Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
21 : ni gajiukaizau af unþiuþa, ak gajiukais af þiuþa unþiuþ.
Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

13

1 : All saiwalo waldufnjam ufarwisandam ufhausjai; unte nist waldufni alja fram guda, iþ þo wisandona fram guda gasatida sind.
Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
2 : swaei sa andstandands waldufnja gudis garaideinai andstoþ; iþ þai andstandandans silbans sis wargiþa nimand.
Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
3 : þai auk reiks ni sind agis godamma waurstwa, ak ubilamma; aþþan wileis ei ni ogeis waldufni, þiuþ taujais jah habais hazein us þamma;
For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
4 : unte gudis andbahts ist þus in godamma. iþ jabai ubil taujis, ogs; unte ni sware þana hairau bairiþ; gudis auk andbahts ist, fraweitands in þwairhein þamma ubil taujandin. unte gudis andbahts ist þus in godamma. iþ jabai ubil taujis, ogs; unte ni sware þana hairu bairiþ; gudis auk andbahts ist, fraweitands in þwairhein þamma ubil taujandin.
For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.
5 : duþþe ufhausjaiþ ni þatainei in þwairheins, ak jah in miþwisseins. duþþe ufhausjaiþ
Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.
6 : inuþ~þis auk jah gilstra ustiuhaiþ; unte andbahtos gudis sind in þamma silbin skalkinondans.
For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.
7 : usgibiþ nu allaim skuldo: þammei gabaur gabaur, þammei mota mota, þammei agis agis, þammei sweriþa sweriþa.
Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.
8 : ni ainummehun waihtais skulans sijaiþ, niba þatei i misso frijoþ; unte saei frijoþ neƕundjan, witoþ usfullida.
Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.
9 : þata auk: ni horinos, ni maurþrjais, ni hlifais, nih faihugeigais, jah jabai ƕo anþaraizo anabusne ist, in þamma waurda usfulljada, þamma: frijos neƕundjan þeinana swe þuk silban.
For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
10 : friaþwa neƕundjins ubil ni waurkeiþ; usfulleins nu witodis ist friaþwa.
Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
11 : jah þata witandans þata þeihs, þatei mel ist uns ju us slepa urreisan; unte nu neƕis ist naseins unsara þau þan galaubidedum.
And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
12 : nahts framis galaiþ, iþ dags atneƕida; uswairpam nu waurstwam riqizis, iþ gawasjam sarwam liuhadis.
The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
13 : swe in daga garedaba gaggaima, ni gabauram jah drugkaneim, ni ligram jah aglaitjam ni haifstai jah aljana;
Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
14 : ak gahamoþ fraujin unsaramma Xristau Iesua jah leikis mun ni taujaiþ in lustuns.
But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

14

1 : Iþ unmahteigana galaubeinai andnimaiþ, ni du tweifleinai mitone.
Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.
2 : sums raihtis galaubeiþ matjan allata; iþ saei unmahteigs ist, gras matjiþ.
For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.
3 : sa matjands þamma ni matjandin ni frakun, iþ sa ni matjands þana matjandan ni stojai; guþ auk ina andnam.
Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.
4 : þu ƕas is, þuei stojis framaþjana skalk? seinamma fraujin standiþ aiþþau driusiþ; aþþan standiþ; mahteigs auk ist frauja gastoþ ina.
Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.
5 : sums raihtis stojiþ dag hindar daga
One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.
9 : jah qiwaim jah dauþaim fraujinoþ.
For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.
10 : iþ þu, ƕa stojis broþar þeinana? aiþþau jah þu, ƕa frakant broþr þeinamma? allai auk gasatjanda faura stauastola Xristaus.
But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
11 : gameliþ ist auk: liba ik, qiþiþ frauja, þatei mis all kniwe biugiþ jah andhaitiþ all razdo guda.
For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
12 : þannu nu ƕarjizuh unsara fram sis raþjon usgibiþ guda.
So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
13 : ni þanamais nu uns misso stojaima, ak þata stojaiþ mais, ei ni satjaiþ bistugq broþr aiþþau gamarzein.
Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.
14 : wait jag~gatraua in fraujin Iesua, þatei ni waiht gawamm þairh sik silbo, niba þamma munandin ƕa unhrain wisan, þamma gamain ist.
I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.
15 : iþ jabai in matis broþar þeins gaurjada, ju ni bi friaþwai gaggis. ni nunu mata þeinamma jainamma fraqistjais, faur þanei Xristus gaswalt.
But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died.
16 : ni wajamerjaidau unsar þiuþ.
Let not then your good be evil spoken of:
17 : nist auk þiudangardi gudis mats jah dragk, ak garaihtei jah gawairþi jah faheþs in ahmin weihamma.
For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
18 : saei auk in þaim skalkinoþ Xristau, waila galeikaiþ guda jah gakusans ist mannam.
For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.
19 : þannu nu þoei gawairþjis sind, laistjaima, jah þoei timreinais sind in uns misso.
Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.
20 : ni nunu in matis gatair waurstw gudis
For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence.

15

3 : þize idweitjandane þuk gadrusun ana mik.
For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me.
4 : swa filu auk swe fauragameliþ warþ, du unsarai laiseinai gameliþ warþ, ei þairh þulain jah gaþrafstein boko wen habaima.
For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
5 : iþ guþ þulainais jah þrafsteinais gibai izwis þata samo fraþjan in izwis misso bi Xristu Iesu,
Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:
6 : ei gawiljai ainamma munþa hauhjaiþ guþ jah attan fraujins unsaris Iesuis Xristaus.
That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
7 : in þizei andnimaiþ izwis misso, swaswe jah Xristus andnam izwis du wulþau gudis.
Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God.
8 : qiþa auk Xristu Iesu andbaht waurþanana bimaitis fram sunjai gudis du gatulgjan gahaita attane,
Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers:
9 : iþ þiudos in armahairteins hauhjan guþ, swaswe gameliþ ist: duþþe andhaita þus in þiudom, frauja, jah namin þeinamma liuþo.
And that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy; as it is written, For this cause I will confess to thee among the Gentiles, and sing unto thy name.
10 : jah aftra qiþiþ: sifaiþ þiudos miþ managein is.
And again he saith, Rejoice, ye Gentiles, with his people.
11 : jah aftra qiþiþ: hazjiþ allos þiudos fraujan jah hazjaina ina allos manageins.
And again, Praise the Lord, all ye Gentiles; and laud him, all ye people.
12 : jah aftra Esaeias qiþiþ: wairþiþ waurts Iaissaizis, jah sa usstandands reikinoþ þiudom; du imma þiudos wenjand.
And again, Esaias saith, There shall be a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles trust.
13 : iþ guþ lubainais fulljai izwis allaizos fahedais
Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

16

21 : jah Lukius jah Iasson jah Soseipatrus, þai niþjos meinai;
Timotheus my workfellow, and Lucius, and Jason, and Sosipater, my kinsmen, salute you.
22 : golja izwis ik Tairtius sa meljands þo aipistaulein in fraujin;
I Tertius, who wrote this epistle, salute you in the Lord.
23 : goleiþ izwis Gaïus, wairdus meins jah allaizos aikklesjons. goleiþ izwis Airastus, fauragaggja baurgs, jah Qartus sa broþar.
Gaius mine host, and of the whole church, saluteth you. Erastus the chamberlain of the city saluteth you, and Quartus a brother.
24 : ansts fraujins unsaris Iesuis Xristaus miþ ahmin izwaramma. Amen.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
